Rene Toneman (1973) is partner and creative director at SILO. Rene started his career in 1996 as a graphic designer at the critically acclaimed Studio Dumbar. He developed in the field of corporate identity programs for large Dutch and international organisations and enterprises including Schiphol Airport, Shell, Rijksmuseum Amsterdam, the Dutch Government, the Dutch Prime Minister and his administration, the Dutch National Police Force and the Dutch Social Security Institute.

As design director at Fabrique Rene and his team were responsible for significant changes in the design culture of the company. Clients included Giant bicycles, the Dutch Tax Administration, Royal Auping, Effenaar and Holland Dance Festival.

At the end of 2007 he establishes creative agency SILO with Dennis Flinterman. Over the past six years SILO has managed to evolve to an innovating creative studio with a respectable client portfolio and international award winning work.

Clients include PostNL, Muziekgebouw aan ’t IJ, Droog, Dutch Creative Council, Shell, Centralpoint Europe and the Dutch Ministry of Finance. Rene has been recognised during his career by the likes of ADC New York, ADCN, the European Design Awards, IF awards, Dutch Design Awards and Red Dot.

In 2012, less than 5 years after establishment, SILO received the prestigious international award ‘European Design Agency of the Year’. Rene has been member of the jury at ADC New York and the ADCN. He actively participated in the creation and organisation of the first major TEDx in The Netherlands: TEDxAmsterdam. His work is frequently published by international magazines and publishers.

Dennis Flinterman (1975) is partner and managing director at SILO. Educated in strategic communications and interaction- and UX design, Dennis started his career in 1998 at Icon Medialab (now Lost Boys) exploring the possibilities of design in the new online world. He worked for clients including Seat, The Dutch Royal House, HP and Vedior.

As a senior interaction designer at Fabrique he worked on a wide range of accounts like Mojo Concerts, Lowlands, North Sea Jazz Festival, Albert Heijn, Orange and Randstad. After a year of freelancing, Dennis established creative agency SILO with Rene Toneman in 2008.

Dennis has been teaching Interaction Design at the Royal Academy of Arts The Hague. With SILO he actively participated in the creation and organisation of the first major TEDx in The Netherlands: TEDxAmsterdam. He frequently lectures at schools and events.
